I know the One Piece community makes jokes about Luffy's sexuality throughout years but this is a real serious article just about his sexuality. Notably, he went out of his way to tell Kureha to save the two as they were his friends, despite his own condition. Luffy's determination for his crew has been put on full display numerous times. He is somewhat aware of having to recruit people who are capable in specific professions, such as cookingmedicineand navigation, and has managed to recruit some of the very best in each one.

Despite the fact that they can all be frustrated by some of Luffy's reckless decisions, they all share an gay loyalty to him luffy will follow his orders without question whenever he is serious. They have all developed a deep bond with each other and it is fair to say that Luffy values no one more than his Straw Hat crew members, seeing them less as his crew and more as his family.
